For example, stops previously picked up and dropped off by Bus #249 were moved to other buses, and we no longer have a Bus #249 serving Lake Ridge Middle School. We are currently seeking some interested parents to serve on our "Wolfpack" advisory council for the 2012 - 2013 school year. Meetings are held once or twice a month on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the library. If you are interested in making this commitment or would like some more information, please e-mail Mrs. Leahey at LeaheySE@pwcs.edu.

Several area merchants participate in school reward programs. Please take the time to link your shopping reward cards with Lake Ridge Middle School. Links to the appropriate web sites and school ID numbers can be found here. Spread the word among your family and friends. You do need to register your cards every year.

Parents who transport their children to school by car may use either entrance to the school. Please be aware that cars are not permitted in the bus circle and school personnel will direct you to the upper parking lot to drop off your child. We ask for your cooperation in making this a smooth process in the morning.

Cell phones must be off and not visible during school hours. Students may not use their cell phones during the day unless granted permission for academic purposes. Confiscated cell phones and other electronic equipment must be retreived by a parent or guardian.

Activity buses will begin running on Thursday, September 27th. Buses will run on Thursdays only and depart LRMS at approximately 4PM. There are two activity buses that service LRMS boundaries. Activity buses do not service the extended areas for transfer students living outside the normal LRMS boundaries with the exception of the Chinn Center stop. Activity bus schedules are available in the front office.

The first newsletter of the school year has been published! Please take a few moments to read the September 2012 Issue of News from Wolf Country for an important message from our principal, Mrs. Fitzgerald, as well as details regarding the school bell schedule, student absence and tardy policies and procedures, after school activities, Parent Portal, and information from our school nurse, the cafeteria staff, and our counseling office. You will also find dates for school pictures, staffing updates, PTSO news, technology updates, Wolves of the Month and Year, the sports calendar, a general calendar of events at LRMS, and other items of importance.

To ensure an efficient and safe dismissal for all students, the office will not dismiss individual students after 2:20 pm. Students leaving early must be picked up no later than 2:20 pm.

As part of the PWCS Divisionwide safety initiative, LRMS utilizes an electronic visitor identification system to help ensure the safety of all students and staff. When a visitor arrives at school, he/she will be required to provide a government-issued ID which is held until the visitor signs out. Previously Registered Users: Parents and students who had user accounts last year should be able to log in to Parent Portal and School Fusion with the same usernames and passwords from last year. If you have forgotten your username or password, or if you have an inactive account, please contact Ms. Griffin.

New Users: The Parent Portal allows parents and students to view student grades and attendance. School Fusion allows parents and students to view class pages containing information about classroom activities, homework, and assignments. Registration for the Parent Portal will allow access to both the Parent Portal and School Fusion. Only parents need to register online; students will automatically receive an account for both systems. Parents who have not yet registered for Parent Portal should use the left side "Parent Portal" navigation button to access additional information about the Portal and the registration process. In a nutshell, here are the steps you will need to follow:

1. Register for an account online.
2. Expect to receive an email with your username and password by September 10th.
3. Bring a copy of the email to LRMS with valid ID beginning on September 10th.
4. Wait to receive notification via email that your account has been activated.
